Class
begins at 8:00 am, please arrive by 7:45 am to fill out necessary
paperwork. Class will run until approximately 6:00 pm
although depending on class size and ability of students class
could run until 7:00 pm or later. |

Course
Description: |
The
NRA Basic Pistol Course teaches the basic
knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol
safely.
This course is at least 8-hours
long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and
semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun
handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals;
range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed
standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for
skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of
Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA
Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting
Student Examination, and course completion certificate. |

Student
Equipment List: |
Students
should bring a picture ID if applicable, a pen or pencil, drinks,
snacks, and a lunch. All other materials and equipment
including firearms and ammunition are included in the price and
will be provided. Please be aware that our shooting range is
outdoors and we will shoot in any weather. Please dress
appropriately for weather. |

I've been around
firearms all my life. Why should I take a Basic Pistol
course?
|

A.
|
A NRA Basic Pistol
course is where most people begin in order to continue on to the
Personal Protection courses. In addition, the Basic Pistol
course can give you insight into the fundamentals of shooting that
you may not have gotten from other sources of firearms training.

How old do you have to
be to take the Basic Pistol course?
|

The NRA does not have a
specific age requirement for the Basic Pistol course, however,
each student must be able to perform the exercises involved in the
class safely and properly. A parent or guardian must be
present for any instruction of a minor.

Do I need to bring my
own firearms or ammunition?
|
|
A.
|
No. We are happy
to provide any firearms and ammunition needed for this
class. If you'd prefer to use your own .22LR caliber firearm,
we will provide .22LR caliber ammunition. If you prefer to
use a different caliber firearm, you will be responsible for
providing your own ammunition. There is no discount for
using your own firearm or ammunition in this course.
Personal firearms will be subject
to inspection by one of our instructors prior to it's use in
the class.

What are the class
times?

This class runs from
8am until around 6pm. We will break about once every hour
and for about an hour for lunch.
